How to Use the Advanced Job Search Features
For most searches, the basic query fields, "Keyword(s)", "Look In", "Location", and "Date Posted", are sufficient to find job postings of interest. In some cases, though, there may be too many matches returned to easily browse through or unwanted matches interspersed among those in your field of interest. This can easily be resolved by doing an advanced job search. Clicking the MORE button in the lower left of the the Search Jobs panel will reveal more query filters. The advanced Job Search features include "Limit To", "Employer", and "Career Category".
Limit To
The "Limit To" field provides a group of checkboxes with the most common job posting flags. You may check as many as you like, but keep in mind that this will limit your search to only those job postings that feature all of your selections. Here is a rundown of the checkbox options:
- Part-time – jobs that do not require the job seeker to work a standard 40-hour work-week.
- Bilingual – jobs that require or prefer Spanish language skills.
- Entry Level – jobs for the first-time or inexperienced job seeker.
- Volunteer – jobs that are community-oriented and that typically do no pay.
- Student / Internship – jobs for students seeking real-world work experience.
- Telecommute – jobs that allow the job seeker to work from home or remotely.
- Relocation – jobs that provide financial reimbursement if the job seeker must relocate.
